![]() ![]() If you never gave that much thought, Ironman will be a rude awakening to just how much risk of injury or death your normal strategy invites on your squad, and to just how much less risk is actually acceptable in a winning strategy. But it is important that you are fully confident you have effective and reliable tactics that will give a good chance of winning on your preferred difficulty. Not everyone wants to live with every misclick or spell of bad luck. Some people relish the extra degree of challenge and unpredictability that permanent, abiding randomness creates. Sometimes it just depends on your mood and what you plan to accomplish with a new campaign. Even among those of us who have been playing for years, some of us only play on Ironman, some never do. Ironman, however, is very much a matter of personal preference. Hopefully the complexity is your cup of tea. When all of vanilla genuinely feels like a tutorial to you, that's the best time to give Long War a try. Like, months of experience to become intimately familiar with all of the mechanics of the base game. Long War is fantastic, but I'd recommend working up to it.
